January 31 10:00am-2:00pm
Transform old blankets, quilts, tablecloths, and curtains into a cozy custom hoodie during this hands-on workshop. Perfect for confident beginners and more experienced sewists, you'll learn upcycling techniques while creating something uniquely yours. We will spend the workshop pinning, cutting, ironing, piecing and sewing one-of-a-kind hoodies that will stop people in the street to ask "Where did you get that???" Walk away with a wearable piece you made yourself and the skills to upcycle beyond the class.
What do I need to know to prepare?
Once you register for the workshop, we will send you a special download code to purchase the pattern for $5.00, which is 50% off the retail price. You should measure yourself and reference the size chart, so you know which size to cut out on workshop day. If you would like a sewing refresher (or starter!) before the workshop, just schedule a private lesson with London.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a quilt, blanket, tablecloth, curtains, whatever you think would make an awesome upcycled hoodie! Mixing and matching is highly encouraged! We will have Indian kantha blankets here for purchase if you need fabric or just get inspired by the beautiful patterns.
The workshop taught by SLOLife Studio & Mercantile owner London Delicath, who consulted with the pattern's maker Karen Sullivan of Sully's Upcycled, to learn all the best tips and tricks. London teaches private and group sewing lessons, is very passionate about using upcycled textiles, and hopes you catch the upcycle bug too! (Seriously, once you start to look at things as potential fabric for sewing, your world will change 🌎)
